Written in vain;

As a constituent, active and informed voter I am writing tonight to express my extreme disappointment with your vote today on HR 1424: Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008. Thankfully the overwhelming voice of the people prevailed today but sadly your vote was cast in contravention of your mandate.

As this may not be the best medium to articulate my disappointment, I want to share in as succinct a manner possible my objection;

Taxpayer money should NOT be spent to subsidize the losses of the very perpetrators of the financial crisis that befalls us.

With the aid of the Federal Reserve trillions of dollars in derivatives have been created over the past 7 years in a massive ponzi scheme sold to the people as economic growth through "innovation".

There is NO constitutional mandate to subsidize derivative losses of Wall Street.

Given the impending insolvency of the United States Treasury, committing additional government funds to subsiding private losses is the fiscal equivalent of euthanasia.

Each intervention by the Treasury & rogue Federal Reserve in the current crisis only serves to deepen the impact on average citizens of the eventual financial Day of Reckoning absolutely ensured by the Greenspan/Bernacke Fed.

Each intervention has and will ensure a hyperinflationary component to the absolutely inevitable financial purge brought upon by the Federal Reserve's program of malinvestment disguised as economic growth.

There has been ZERO real economic growth in this country for the better part of a decade. The bankers need to export runaway inflationary measures to foreign Treasury investors has ravaged the Dollar and ushered in an era of off shoring every conceivable productive activity to low cost locations.

Underemployed union labor in your District, formerly employed in good paying industries have more than any single driver, the Federal Reserve to thank for their early "retirement".

Your vote today was cast with Wall Street & the Fed, in spite of those constituents mentioned above.

The one proactive step that is available as a rememdy to the current and future crisises is to put your support behind HR 2755 - Federal Reserve Board Abolition Act.

It is clear that soon some permutation of this bill will again come up in the House for a vote. If you again vote against your mandate I will;

Make it my absolute solemn duty every day for the next month to;

Spread this message to my friends, neighbors and co-workers, nearly all of whom are constituents.

Spread this message to the thousands of young, suddenly energized voters of the district who,

Having succumbed to the powerful allure of our well intentioned, but ill informed, compromised junior Senator will rally around this message;

Before the US House of Representatives, statement on H Res 997, expressing the strong support of the House of Representatives for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization to enter into a Membership Action Plan with Georgia and Ukraine, April 1, 2008

Mr. Speaker, I rise in opposition to this resolution calling for the further expansion of NATO to the borders of Russia. NATO is an organization whose purpose ended with the end of its Warsaw Pact adversary. When NATO struggled to define its future after the Cold War, it settled on attacking a sovereign state, Yugoslavia, which had neither invaded nor threatened any NATO member state.

This current round of NATO expansion is a political reward to governments in Georgia and Ukraine that came to power as a result of US-supported revolutions, the so-called Orange Revolution and Rose Revolution. The governments that arose from these street protests were eager to please their US sponsor and the US, in turn, turned a blind eye to the numerous political and human rights abuses that took place under the new regimes. Thus the US policy of “exporting democracy” has only succeeding in exporting more misery to the countries it has targeted.

NATO expansion only benefits the US military industrial complex, which stands to profit from expanded arms sales to new NATO members. The “modernization” of former Soviet militaries in Ukraine and Georgia will mean tens of millions in sales to US and European military contractors. The US taxpayer will be left holding the bill, as the US government will subsidize most of the transactions. Providing US military guarantees to Ukraine and Georgia can only further strain our military. This NATO expansion may well involve the US military in conflicts as unrelated to our national interest as the breakaway regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia in Georgia. The idea that American troops might be forced to fight and die to prevent a small section of Georgia from seceding is absurd and disturbing.

Mr. Speaker, NATO should be disbanded, not expanded.

The first edition of "Embedded: Occupied America" comes to you from deep behind enemy lines from the least free state in these United, the occupied territory of Illinois.

A quote from Senator Barry Goldwater's 1964 acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention seems to be an appropriate way to begin this discussion. Though Senator Goldwater went on to suffer one of the most lop-sided defeats in Presidential election history, his words ring truer today than on the night they were first spoken. Liberty is in greater need of defense today than in 1964 and extremism increasingly the only tool available to the common man.

How would Barry Goldwater define extremism today? What qualifies as "extreme"? Fiery rhetoric from balaclava clad protesters in a third world capital? Bloggers advancing 9-11 conspiracy theories? The millions who tune into "alternative" media outlets each week? Television political pundits advancing the party line?

When the World Wide Web burst onto the scene in the late 1990's the web was heralded as ushering in a new era of human communication, a free and fettered marketplace of ideas outside the usual social control paradigms. Today both corporation and state all too readily recognize the threat posed by the Web; a threat to advertising revenue, ratings, relevance and above all credibility. Newspapers are bankrupt, network TV viewer ship is a shadow of its former self, weekly news magazines too stale to be of interest and all too often embarrassing scandals and fraud perpetrated by media outlets struggling with the former. And what of the State?

Approval ratings are at an all time low, discontent rules the land respecting no traditional boundary of geography, class, age or color. For the latter half of the twentieth century the State had at its disposal the auspices of the corporate mass media, a means to stay relevant to the deliberately undereducated populace. With the mass media floundering and the state sinking it stands to reason that a logical scapegoat would be the free market place of ideas.

Censorship, corporate controlled "Internet II", FISA, S1959 - The Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007, bloggers, truth groups and Ron Paul. If one were trading in the market place of ideas what would he buy? If one were trading in extremism?

And what of Liberty?

The marketplace of ideas has spoken and former monopolists in the trade don't appear to like it.
